My many thanks and appreciation to the authors of the book
“AN ADVERTIZING DOLL 1920 to 1960” BUDDY LEE...(Truly the best most informative buddy lee book ever !!!!)
LAURAL SCHWING
And
ALVA CHRISTENSEN
For so graciously giving me permission to use the book for comparison with photos in reference to information on this specific very rare hard plastic cowboy Buddy Lee doll of which they have the other one.
thank you so so much!!
Such an amazing book!!!
I have included pictures of both pages of pictures and information from the book in case you’re so unfortunate to not have the book you can zoom in and read about this doll
if you have the book you would look in the cowboy chapter
And Second to the last paragraph and page 106 has pictures and info About their conclusion and the hat and stamp
the comparison picture i’ve included is picture number 7 my doll being that on the right shows the detail to the eyelashes and the molded and different colored hair (sorry about the quality of the pictures)
the hat has the stamp on the inside as referenced and shown in the book
But is missing 2 to 3 inches of the paper band around the hat (Pictured)
his shirt is still sewn/attached on each side inside the jeans (I honestly don’t think he was ever undressed) (Pictured)
he’s got a little color loss and rubs and scuffs on his head and hair
his scarf is a little short and tucks under the collar as opposed to tying a knot behind
His belt is showing a little wear at the buckle no tears rips or holes
other than that his clothes as well as the doll are in great to exceptional condition considering the age
In my opinion this was truly a mile stone in the history of the buddy Lee doll
changing from one material to another after approximately 30 years to go on for another 20 or so years
it only happened once and there may only be two sample or prototypes dolls
I am not a collector it’s a waste for him to stay with me
if you have any questions please feel free I answer quickly if you need more pictures I can do that as well
And many thanks again to Laurel Schwing for all your help.
Shipping will be USPS priority mail and I will ship to Japan
Thank you for visiting
