These workers may or may not have known, but this was the last month for the C&G's last steam locomotive, as it retired them in January of 1952. This photo looks to have been used in an article for the newspaper, according to the clipping attached and a small remnant of the photo from the newspaper. Photo shows some corner curling and some crazing, but displays well. Has a hand written listing of all persons in the photo on the back. On a Google search the only name I can find is W.A. Trayler Jr. who is listed as the C&G master mechanic.
