Description
RARE Stokely Van Camp "Easy" Ceramic Ad Figure 1952 Advertising Character7.5" tall ceramic figure of "Easy", the trademark character for Stokely Van Camp aka Van Camp's, one of the US leaders in the canned food industry for well over a century. In 1946, the Harman-Ising cartoon studio produced a commercial film for Stokely Van Camp to compete with Heinz. The short was entitled "Easy Does It", and an animated imp named Easy demonstrates how Van Camp's canned food products make a housewife's life a breeze: this is a statue of that character. Easy is clad in a blue, gold and white marching band uniform with his torso shaped like the Stokely Van Camp logo. The green base Easy is standing on is also in the shape of the logo.
This is a rare and valuable piece for the serious advertising figure collector. It can be seen on page 39 of Warren Dotz's 1997 Advertising Character Collectibles guide.
