Description
For your consideration: a pair bottle lot from the Moroney & Connor bottling proprietors of Philadelphia, PA. These were hand-blown into two-part private molds and finished with hand applied lips in the 1860's. They were recovered in Philadelphia privy excavations in the last year. Cleaned only with soap and water. They are in very good dug condition with no damage. The left example is an aqua pony soda with a blob lip finish. Embossed with the proprietors and "Philada" across the frontal heel. Hollow block letters: " M & C " embossed on the reverse. Nice neck creases and stretching dipping under the applied finish. It shows some light patchy interior haze and and some exterior surface texture. Structurally perfect. It measures: 7 5/16" x 2 7/16". The right example is a light green porter beer with an applied double-tapered lip finish. It is embossed the same as the pony. Structurally perfect with some medium bubbles in the base area. It shows some very light haze inside and some micro hammering on the exterior surface - mold artifacts. Light iridescent polychroma. It has a few very small nibbles on the bottom ring of the lip as seen in the images. It measures: 6 7/8" x 2 5/8"
