Antique Ceramic Bottle from Sri Lanka

Ceramic Bottle From Ceylon (Sri Lanka) from late 1800’s to early 1900’s.
This bottle was purchased in Sri Lanka in an Antique store in 1978.
Background of this Bottle:
This bottle dates to when Sri Lanka was a British colony, was manufactured in England and then shipped to Sri Lanka for use. The only mention of the “Colombo Aerated Water Co.” is from “Kelly’s Directory of Merchants Manufacturers and Shippers of the World” published in 1907.
Most likely the “Colombo Aerated Water Co.” was purchased by, or was part of, the “The Colombo Ice Company”, also located in the same suburb of Colombo called Salve Island.
The Colombo Ice Company was established in 1863.
In the early 1890’s the company had financial problems and went into liquidation.
The assets were bought out of bankruptcy in 1894, and the company was then called “The New Colombo Ice Company”.
The “New Colombo Ice Company” bought out many of their competitors and became the dominant player in soft drinks and ice manufacturing.
In 1941 the “New Colombo Ice Company” changed its name to “Ceylon Cold Stores Limited”.
The company is still in existence today but is better known as “Elephant House”, and sells carbonated drinks, ice cream and processed meats.
The “Slave Island” neighborhood was a term coined during British colonial rule referencing the area which, under prior Portuguese rule, had been a holding area for slaves.
Slavery had been completely abolished in Ceylon by 1844.

The bottle is 7” tall and 3” wide.
