Description
Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. This is an interesting item that was produced as part of a vanity campaign/advertising venture for a company that manufactured hose fittings used in the oil drilling industry (Stratoflex).
This object appears to have been produced from 1959 when the 7" record, 'The Song and Story of Zing Zong' was pressed and 1962 when the trademark for Zing Zong was discontinued (both pictured).
There is an upload of Zing Zong's record on YouTube and is worth a listen. Search ZingZingStratoflex.MOV
It tells the story of Zing Zong being discovered inside a meteorite during the construction of the new Stratoflex building in Fort Worth, Texas and the commitment of its chief officers to return him home to the moon.
Note that this was at a time and in proximity to the race to the moon and that is perhaps the only link between Zing Zong and the business he was advertising—that and the interest of company’s named officers in the topic. It is said, though i cannot confirm it, that one of these Zing Zongs made it onto the moon mission craft.
You will receive this Zing Zong just as I have found him. I have not attempted to clean or alter him in any way. He has an S on his belly and is constructed of a hardened rubber material.
I have taken detailed pictures so that you can assess exactly what you will receive. It is extremely rare.
This purchase will be bubble-wrapped and shipped in a box with insurance.
