Description
For your consideration; an A. McFarland squat soda form iron-pontiled bottle. It was hand blown in green glass batch in a two-part private mold and finished with an applied blob lip in the 1850's. This was recovered for a Philadelphia privy excavation in the last year. It is in great dug condition with no damage at all. Lovely conical-type (typical push-up form for the McFarland bottles) indent in the base shows a "frosted" improved pontil scar with no residue. "Registered According to Law" -embossed on the reverse body. The bottle shows use wear and some light interior haze. Some light ice pick gouging inside the neck and micro-pings over the exterior surface as seen in the images. Structurally perfect and displays well. Cleaned only with soap and water. A very nice classic Phila soda bottle. It measures: 7 1/4" x 2 5/8"+.
